Fieldtrip!

S.L.C. Library, Abravanel Hall (Utah Symphony,) The Gateway, and Clark Planetarium.

The bus ride......What fun (I brought my iPod.) It's been a long time since I sang: BINGO, The Wheels on the Bus, 100 Bottles of “Root beer” On the Wall, and Old McDonald. Can I just say, I hadn’t missed it. :] It’s a long ride from Syracuse to S.L.C. Thank goodness for that iPod. Man, those kids are loud! In Rick's words, "Better you than me. Have fun Honey." But, look how happy Channy is.....;)

The Library…..I have one word for the Library B…O…R…I…N…G! That’s right! I said it! It’s a good thing they spent serious money on the glass elevators, cuz that’s about all we did there. They were kinda fun…if you didn’t get stopped at every floor.
This pic is of my group of girls on the roof : Lila, Chantel, Andrea, Hanna.

The girls goofin' off.

Fun in the glass elevator. Wheeeeeeeeeee!

Glass wall. I guess the glass wall was kinda fun too.

Hug (me and Channy)
My darling Channy.

The Symphony

They look so excited. The girls were BORED with the Symphony, until the conductor entertained them with his crazy flailing arms. Then they started laughing, and I had to ground Chantel to make her stop……After that…..there were no more hugs…..

Not so happy anymore .... Can you tell?

Clark Planetarium
The girls pay homage to the first astronaut .

We ate at the fountains at the Gateway, and the day came to an end. I’m so dang tired. I could sleep for a week. And my feet are killing me. Why did I wear 3 inch heels? Stupid! Chantel’s teacher, Mrs. Wood, thanked us and invited us to sign up for the next field trip at Surf-n-Swim…..Yeah, maybe…….and maybe not. I think that would be a fun one for Rick. :)

Star's Baby Shower

1 1/2 Weeks To Go
Star looks great with less than 2 weeks to go. Her baby shower was at her sister-in-laws (Jinger). It was a huge success with relatives from both families showing up. She got some great gifts that I’m sure will come in handy when her sweet little girl arrives. We can hardly wait.

My mom, Channy, and my Aunt Karen.

Gifts, and decorations.

The food was wonderful. Everyone went all out, and Jinger's house was beautiful.

Kylee, showing off her new glasses.

Striders 30k (18.4 miles)

WE DID IT!!!!!! AND MISSY TOOK 3rd IN HER AGE DIVISION! YOU ROCK MISSY!

What a race. I have to tell you....I'm tired. The pic below is what's left of our group that signed up for the Striders Winter Training Circuit. It was 5 races, and 51 miles of snow, ice, cold, wind and hills, but our minds and bodies endured. It was quite and adventure; And I'm glad we did it.
Photobucket

Above: Craig, Me, Missy, Teresa, and Lisa.

The race started at 7:30 a.m. This is a pic of me, Lisa, and Teresa. We rode up together. I have to be honest....I wanted to quit before it started....it was FREEZING! I got a "good luck" call from Rick before the race, with a reminder not to drop my jacket. Because he was not going to be able to save me this time, as he was at work.

I had a great run. The best part of the race was at about mile 4. A bunch of horses put on a spectacular show running down the fields. It was really beautiful with the mountains and the horses. It warmed up a bit, and I felt really strong until the last couple of miles. I was able to make up some time and thought possibly, possibly I could sneak back into 3rd place, but no... I finished 4th in my age group. I’m still proud anyhow.

I’m most proud of Lisa though. She had a tough run. Her eyes filled with tears when she saw her hubby at the finish line. I’ve been there. When you have a run like that, you know you gave everything you had and more. That’s something to be proud of. I also have to give kudos to Craig for running with his wife (Missy) and supporting her through the race. What a good husband. I just put this pic of Craig and Missy in cuz, they look so good.....NOT! The girl on the far left (Heidi) robed me of 3rd place in my age division. Soooo happy for her. :]

At the race I saw a friend from high school. This is me and her (Sheri). It's always fun to see an old friend.

After the race at Red Moose Lodge. Everyone chillin' before the awards. Here is my time and the times of some of the rockin' people I know.

Not posted yet. But my Unofficial time is 2:45 or about a 8:50 minute pace, and I’m always happy as long as I stay under 9 min miles.

Official Times: I finished 84th over all, 17th women's over all, and 4th in my age.

84 Tiffany Gatten 575 39 4 F 35-39 2:45:25.7 8:52/M
122 Teresa Odekirk 663 46 3 F 45-49 2:54:08.1 9:21/M

131 Missy Nichols 660 40 5 F 40-44 2:55:59.4 9:26/M 132 Craig Nichols 661 42 20 M 40-44 2:56:00.9 9:27/M

Flashback Friday

3rd Grade School Program
Wow, where does the time go? I look at this pic and see how little Channy is. Mostly I look at her cute hair. She won’t let me touch it at this stage, and I have to beg her to wash it. I miss cute hair. Also look how her belt matches her outfit….now…nothing matches.*sigh*

This was a school program celebrating our country in 2004. Grandpa and Grandma Dorman were in attendance along with, my niece Kylee, and my sister Kristi and her son Bowen. Notice the hair do Bowen is sporting. Gotta love the Mohawk….my sister is a barber. :)

L to R: Kylee, Channy, Kristi, Bowen

Grandpa, Grandma, and Channy. This pics makes me notice how great my mom looks now. She's lost a lot of weight. Way to go mom.

Wrestling 2008

Well, track starts today, so I thought it may be time to post wrestling. I was waiting on some pics from someone else, but I still don’t have them. My camera isn’t as bad as it may look. The problem is…..I shake like a drug starved junkie when Corbin wrestles. When he steps on the mat, the first thing I say is, “I hate this so bad.” It is the worst sport ever! I’m afraid that he is going to be paralyzed every time he wrestles. I really, hope he doesn’t do it again next year because I have more grey hairs from it than I can count.

Corbin really loved it though. He wrestled on the varsity team 150lbs. He took 4th at North End. Now it’s on to track. You may think I’m relieved now, but Corbin has Osteochondritis Dissecans. It’s kind of like having a broken leg all the time. So….more gray hairs. What ya gonna do?

new shoes

Happy Feet!

You are going to think I’m crazy to be so happy about new running shoes, but I am. They feel wonderful. I got new trail shoes also. It seems like running shoes just don’t last that long, and when their time is up you start getting hurt. My knees have been killing me. I really hope they help on my 18 mile run on Sat. I’m so nervous for this run I can’t even tell you. My plan is….just go slow, and finish. I dropped from 2nd place to 6th place after my last run, so the pressure is off now. I can just run and… enjoy myself? Well, maybe that’s taking it a bit too far, hee, hee. Anyhow, here’s to new shoes!

Gangs Suck

If You're going to spray paint at least show some talent!!!!
Well, look what I woke up to today! A gang from Ogden made their way down here and it looks like they’ve taken my damn fence as part of their territory. So, I’ll spend my day TAKING THE DAMN THING BACK!!!!!! Some people (probably teenagers) really need to get a life.

Below: This is what I saw when I opened my blinds. It's my neighbors fence. This paint better come off.

Flashback Friday

When will #6 be here?

My little sister, Star, is expecting the 6th grandchild on my side of the family. The baby will be a little girl and even out the boys and girls. She was so uncomfortable last night. She should have her any day now. We are all excited for a new baby. My niece Kylee is almost 7. It’s been a long time since we’ve felt the soft fuzz of a newborn baby. I’m so excited. *hands rubbing together*

These pictures were taken 2 years ago for Mother’s Day for my mom. I can’t wait to have another kid in the pictures……like it wasn’t hard enough trying to get 5 kids to smile and be happy. :)

My niece is Kylee, like I said, and my nephew is Bowen.
