Waterfall Canyon

This spring all the members of our family have enjoyed hikes to Waterfall Canyon in the Ogden Wasatch Mountains. This year we have had a tremendous amount of rain, so the rivers are ready to spill over the banks. All this water makes for a spectacular waterfall.

If you've never made the hike, you really need to. You must do it soon though because as the summer goes on the waterfall pretty much dries up.

Corbin and Kortney hiked it for a fun day date, and got lost. They really had a good time though, and said it was worth all their efforts.

I took Channy and a couple of her friends one day. They complained the whole way up. They said, "They were going to throw up and die!" But once we reached the fall everything was forgotten. On the way down, they said, "This is the best day I ever had. Thanks so much for taking us."

Challis and Rick have also been up this spring. I think its definitely a family favorite. We suggest you head on over the the 29th st. Trail head and get hiking!!! But beware of the scenic route....you may get lost....We all did. :)

Day Date

Provo Falls and Lofty Lake Loop Trail
Photobucket
Rick and I ended up on a date together this weekend quite by accident since we asked our kids if they wanted to come.....and they didn’t. Channy was reading Breaking Dawn, Challis went to church with Melissa, and Corb, “Just didn’t feel like it.” So, off we went to the Uintah’s.....and we had a blast without them. It’s roughly a 2 hour drive from our house to Provo Falls which is where we went first. Provo Falls is beautiful. If you’ve never been I highly recommend you stop, take in the breathtaking views, dip your toes in the water and take some pics.

Then we were off on a hike that we’d never done before, and it was amazing. Lofty Loop is a trail that starts across from Pass Lake. It’s about 4 miles long and you could take the kids if they're adventitious kids. It gets rocky in some areas, but I did see a 4 year old with her dad, and she seemed to be doing just fine on this class 2 hike. Lofty takes you through an amazing meadow that I’m sure was filled with flowers about 2 weeks ago. However, we did see some flowers. Then the trail takes you past 4 different lakes that are breath taking. Below is a map of the trail in yellow. I also added some links if you are interested in other hikes in Utah.

After the hike we went to Mirror Lake and ate a picnic dinner. It was fun to just relax, and watch the canoes and fishermen. On our way home we stopped at Taggert’s Diner and got some yummy dessert. It was a fabulous date...thanks baby. :)
