Syracuse Football

Well, the Syracuse Football season has come to an end.  Their record for the year was 9-3.  Not bad.  They lost in the playoffs, but we sure had a great time cheering them on, and before you know it....Corbin's senior season will be here.

Titan Homecoming

I was thrilled when Corbin decided to go to homecoming. After all, you only get to go to High School once. Corbin has had a rough time of late, and I knew a little dancin' would cheer him up. He invited Kirstin a Titan Cheerleader to insure it was extra cheery. :) He doubled with one of his Titan teammates (Zach) and another Titan Cheerleader (Kaylee), and it really did the job......He was definitely cheered up. They are all great kids. I love to have them around.

They started off with a day date. Breakfast at Granny Annie's in Kaysville (side note: Annie's is his grandma Dorman's favorite breakfast establishment.) Then on to the Gateway for a picture scavenger hunt. After that, ice cream at Cold Stone. Then back home to get ready. (We went shopping last minute for a vest at the mall.) Then the boys went to pick up the girls and met at the park (because parents don't pay without pictures. lol) After that, they went to dinner at Chili's, and then to the dance (I'm told Corbin is a dancing machine. He danced with everyone's date.) After the dance the whole group came to our house for a movie.

So, let's do the math - Shoes $40, Tie $10, Vest $30, Corsage $ 30, Breakfast $8, Camera $12, Ice Cream $7, Dinner $30, Dance Tickets $15, Pictures $45, Movie $5 -A smile on Corbin's face PRICELESS! (Don't ask Rick if it's Priceless...you may get another answer)

Corbin did play in the winning Homecoming game against Roy score 47-0. Here is a picture from the game. We are pretty CrAzY fans. We wear Property Of Titan Football T-shirts, wave blue and white pompoms and ring cowbells. Were down right embarrassing; no wonder Corbin pretends not to know us.

This pic is of Kinley.

Football - It's a rough sport

Syracuse High Football

Photobucket
It's been a really tough football season for Corbin. He started off the preseason with a bad sprained ankle. That took a few weeks to heal, and then just when he was back.....something life changing happened to him....He had a seizure. He was lifting and just went down. It was a grand mall seizure (8 min long) an ambulance was called to take him to the hospital. His team mates were very frightened and shaken. After tons of tests, X-ray, blood, CAT, MRI, EEG and so on he was diagnosed 6 weeks later with Epilepsy. Then just when he was back, the Davis High JV team dislocated and tore his shoulder. It was very painful to watch him have it put back in. So, now he's in physical therapy again. He is determined to play against Syracuse's biggest rival Clearfield High School in 2 weeks. Rick suggested he take up Chess Club next year in place of football after Rick got the $1300. ambulance bill. Somehow, I just don't see Corbin switching it up like that. :)

Syracuse High Schools record so far 3-1
GO TITANS!

All that, and a kickin' GPA

Corbin's football team had an awards banquet the other night. It was fun to watch film and pics of the past season, have a yummy dinner and watch the boys get their recognition for all their hard work. What we were most proud of was Corbin's Titan Award. You have to be in good standing with your citizenship grade and have above a 3.5 grad point average. I was really impressed with how many boys on the team made the requirement....after all they're football players. But over 1/2 the team qualified. Wow! What a smart team.

Below, Corbin and his buddy Cole at the dinner. Cole also got a Titan award and he Lettered. Cole also loves the Colts as you can see.

One last team cheer! Go Titans!

Playoff at the U of U

Syracuse Vs. Alta
Wow! I'm so proud that all these boys worked so hard this year to make it so far. And what a great reward to get to play at Rice Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah. There were so many fans that came out to support these boys and their coaches....way more than Alta. They fought so hard, but in the end...they lost. 42-14. Well, there's always next year and the next for Corbin.

I'm off to NYC tonight. Thanks Cas for all the ideas. It should be a blast. Also, look for posts to come about Corbin having surgery on Dec 4th.

The Syracuse Titan's are goin' to the Semi-Finals!

Let 'um talk all they want!
And get your respect on the field!

Well..... people have talked about the Titan's all season long. At the beginning of the season they talked about a couple of kids that committed some crimes. Those kids gave the rest of the team a heavy burden to carry for the rest of the season. They had a "West Side Thug" reputation, and even my alma mater (Davis High), made shouts, "Why don't you go steal something!" during the J.V. game. (Never have I been so embarrassed to be a Dart!) BUT! Let 'um talk now. They earned their respect with all their burden, and they should hold their heads high. Because they are the only team going to Rice Eccles Stadium for the State Playoffs.......So take that and shout it on back....Davis!

As you can see the Titan's (9-2) WON Pleasant Grove (10-1) with only 1.2 seconds in the game. It was a fabulous game. Pleasant Grove fought hard in the second half and gave us something to cheer about until the final seconds. Officially the best game I've been at.

So, Alta! We'll see you at the Uof U.....game on!
GO TITANS!

The Last Sophomore Game

Touchdown!
Corbin was so excited to get a touchdown against Davis High...Mainly because I went to high school there. Below is the catch followed by much celebration.
The Catch...he didn't know the ball was coming to him...SURPRISE! He almost lost the ball.

My favorite shot I took of the game. The Titan player in white is A.J.

The Titans lost to the Darts....way to many turnovers. But the next night the Varsity team beat Davis to finish 2nd in the region. So, the Titans are off to the playoffs. They play Kearns Friday afternoon....on Halloween. GO TITANS! BEAT THE COUGARS!

Syracuse and Fremont

Syracuse played Fremont last week. The Sophomores had a rough go of it, as some of the players had been suspended from the week before, but they managed a win. Corbin got his first high school interception, but I missed that photo op too. lol. He isn't very happy with my photo skills. Corbin spent most of the game playing defense, but played a little offense, did kickoffs, and was the placer for field goals. The Varsity managed to scrape by with a win 7-0. Which is pitiful considering Fremont is ranked at the very bottom. This week will be the last week Corbin plans to play. (He will be having surgery on Dec 4th.) The Titans will be playing the Davis Darts this week (That's where I went to high school. I'm a little torn) Should be a great game. Go TITANS! Or Darts...whatever.

Say It Ain't So Joe!

So, I guess the numbers don't lie!

Syracuse (ranked #5 in the state) played Layton (ranked #2 in the state) and .....Syracuse Varsity lost! They are 6-2. They have secured a playoff spot despite their loss...We went to dinner before the game at the Saddler's with the Bairds, and the Nyes, and then we all went to the freezing cold game. Thank goodness for space heaters and hot Cocoa. Rick went even though he is really sick with a cold and a migraine.

The Sophomore team played Layton also and they WON! Yeah! Now the Sophomores are 6-1. They even had to play with their 3rd string QB. However, they had 2 players suspended after the game for trash talk, so next week the first 1/2 of the game could be a rough one. Here are some of my "improving shots" from the game.
Below: The Titans attempt to move the ball down the field.

Good pics at last!

My new Camera.

I got a new Nikon camera a few months ago, and I got some good football pics for the first time. Unfortunately, none of the really good ones are of Corbin, but they are of his team mates. So here they are. I can't wait to go to the game again today and try and get more. By the way, The Titan's won both the Sophomore and Varsity games. The Varsity team has moved to 5th place in the state. They play 2nd place Layton High this week. GO TITANS!!!

BELOW: Not my best pic, but the only one I got of my own kid that was ok. Corbin just caught the ball in this pic and is tackled at the 1/2 yard line. Dang it! He almost had another Touchdown.

Photobucket

BELOW: Braxton #8 takes the ball down the field. Cool how I caught him cutting around a Northridge player.

Photobucket

BELOW: Tyler #11 is the QB. He looks like he has a facemask, but I'm sure it's just the angle. He'd never do that.......;)

Photobucket

BELOW: This is Braxton again. He hit this kid so hard that he took the kids helmet right off. Umm, he almost took me out too. It made my heart skip a few beats. :)

Titan # 8

BELOW: Ramon looks like he can fly, and he can. lol.
