Rolly Polly Fish Head

Challis has had a good year.....I think. He turned 20 this year, and we went to McGrath's for some delicious sea food. He got a job working for a gentleman up in Eden. Challis has been to several states working for him.  He spent most of the summer on the road working. He's decided Black Foot Idaho isn't really the place for him, as he spent a good chunk of time working there. I think the more he traveled the more he appreciated living in Utah. Below he wears the fish head at the restaurant so they can sing happy birthday to him.
Challis also changed places of residence. He went from living on Zach's couch to living at his friend John's where he has a room of his own. Below are him and John.
Challis still spends a great deal of time with Melissa.  Don't ask us if they are together, we don't know, and clearly neither do they, but we all love Melissa.
We love it when they both come around.  We miss them being around all the time.

Corbin's 17th

I can't believe Corbin is already 17.  He has grown so much this year.  He's quickly approaching 200lbs and is 6'1".  I always knew he'd be a big boy....Maybe because he was 9lbs 3oz when he was born, hee, hee.  We love him to death.  He's a kid with so much potential, and I hope he lives up to it.  His new favorite quote I see written all over, from his Uncle Jay, "To whom much is given, much is expected."  So, I know he thinks about where he is going.

On his birthday we got together with my "new" sister Jennie and her family, my sister Star and her family, My mom and Steve, and a couple of Corbin's favorite friends, Jessica, and Jayden.  We went to dinner with Jennie's family and the girls then met up with the others at Boondocks for some lazer tag and games. It was really snowy out, so we appreciate that everyone came.  We had fun.
Guess what Corbin's favorite B-day gift was? GO COLTS!

His second favorite....Ok, maybe it was the cash from everyone.  :)

My baby is 19

Challis' birthday is Aug 22, so my post is a bit late. We had a family lunch for his birthday at Chili's. If you are wondering where Challis has been in all of my posts...well, he moved out this summer. He has a place in Layton with a couple of his friends. It's a bachelor pad for sure. It smells bad and all. The place is a wreck. But, he says he enjoys his freedom, as most young people do. He's working at Smith's still and is attending Weber St. My greatest concern is that he seems to keep loosing weight. Without someone to feed him on a regular basis, he just seems to forget to eat. I don't understand it, as I'm always looking forward to my next feeding, but it clearly is the case. 6 foot 1 inch and 130 lbs seems pretty thin. So, if you see him. Please feed him.

I Hope They Stretch!

No, that's not what I meant.......I meant...I hope they really, really stretch!!

That's what you wanna here on your 40th birthday! THANKS BRENDA!

She was talking about my Pearl Izumi Tri shorts I got for my birthday, and YES! THEY FIT! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I turned 40 this past week, and no big deal. It's only 40. The really good thing about 40 is...no one expects you to look good anymore....that's a plus....right?! And, like my friend Andrea said, "Now you can move into the 40-60 category running, and you should do well there." If she didn't live in Texas....I'd hit her.....The other good thing, you forget easy, so you don't have a lot of stress anymore. It's all good....I just hope I don't break a hip or anything.

I had a wonderful Birthday lunch at Mimi's. My BFF put on for me, and I'd show you some pics...if anyone would send them to me.

I also had a fun dinner at Chili's with the family, Brenda's family, Melissa, and Kortney. And, seriously, I'm lovin' 40! Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes....they mean the most to the old people.

My shorts Brenda insulted me about.

Happy Birthday Best Friend!

Gonna Love the 40's! :)

If you don't know my best friend, her name is Brenda Bentley Saddler, and she's been my friend since I was 3 years old. She is more like a sister to me, and I love her to death. She is beautiful, smart, and now.....she's 40.

I remember the first time I ever saw her. It may be my earliest memory. She was on her front lawn and I was standing across the street on my front porch watching her play. I longed to play with her and I still always want to play with her. She's a great time when I need one and a rock when I need one. I'm eternally grateful for her friendship.

So, I threw her a surprise party. We had a little lunch with some of her closest friends. It was so fun. I truly hope her 40's are the best years ever. She deserves it.

Fish are Friends....NOT FOOD!

McGrath's Fish House for Corbin's Birthday.

Chantel kept telling us, "Fish are friends, not food." She was eating a hamburger. The rest of us had seafood. She also had this seafood joke for us. "So, the last time I was at Sea World I was thinking, why do they have seafood restaurants at Sea World? Then I looked at my fish sandwich and thought, This fish could have been a slow learner." She's a funny one.

This was the first chance we had to celebrate Corbin's birthday as a family (Challis had to work), and as a tradition we eat out at the birthday persons choice of restaurant. Corbin loves clam chowder, but I always wonder why he chooses McGrath's for his birthday. He hates when they come and make you wear the fish on your head, or maybe he really likes it and he's faking it.....

Today was a proud moment for us. Challis went to his first classes at Weber St. University. We are really proud of him. He is a really hard worker, and I know he'll do well. When I go into Smiths his coworkers and superiors always tell me how much they appreciate what a good worker he is. Good luck at school Challis. We all love you so much.

Kidnapped!

For His Birthday! Happy 16th CORBIN!

At 8:30 a.m. on the 30th day of the 12th month of 2008, Corbin Cade Gatten was accosted from his own bed. He was awakened from a sleep he reportedly was enjoying. The assailants were three young, beautiful girls dressed in pajamas (Kortney, Nicole, and Aubree.) Two were wearing hats to help disguise "bed-head". Corbin was reportedly surprised and shamefully sleeping with a "Spider man teddy bear". He threw the bear under the covers to save himself from shame when he saw the paparazzi coming with a camera. He was told to put on a blindfold. He was then told he would be moved to an undisclosed location. His one request was, "Can I, at least, brush my teeth?" His request was granted, and he was moved, but because of his inability to walk...the young girls were forced to carry him. He was last seen when his head was slammed into the top of a green van (because the girls didn't notice his head was so high when they were carrying him.) The green van was last seen travailing North away from his home. His mother seemed to be laughing, and is sure he will be returned at some point.

Happy Birthday Star!

It was my sister, Star's, birthday yesterday, so I hosted a lunch to celebrate it. She's had a rough couple of weeks, so I wanted to do something special for her, and it was also an excuse to use my grandmother's china that I inherited after she passed away. I think my grandmother would be tickled pink that we used it and thought of her. I wanted to do a fancy "girls lunch" because my grandmother really liked to have a fancy table when she had company, and Star and I really love that kind of thing.
The Table.

The Food. Loaded Baked Potato Soup, grilled Baguettes with Herb Butter and Gouda, Raspberry Fluff Jell-O, assorted Veggies, Strawberry Pineapple Punch, and Holiday Tea in honor of my grandmother who loved a cup of tea.

Tiffany-

What I have to say about Rick.

Rick is more than my husband, he's my best friend. The things I think people should know about him: He works harder than anyone I know. He never rests even at home. He does chores while he watches TV. He has more energy than anyone I know, but when he sits down...he falls asleep. He is willing to do anything around the house to help out, and I do mean anything...even the toilets. He's a clean freak. He likes everything in it's place. He is organized, even if no one else in our house is. He's incredibly intelligent. I think he could learn to do anything, and do it better than the person who taught him. I'm so glad he's here to help my kids with all the hard school stuff, but he's not very artistic. He's very healthy. He has great willpower when it comes to eating, and is very active...OK, he's a much better runner than I am...there I said it! He's very sensitive. He's a great dad. He feels deeply for our family, and is emotionally tied to each of us. He's a problem solver and a handyman, whether it's stuff around the house, relationships, or stuff at work, he'll find a way to fix things. He's short tempered, but that's gotten better over the years. He's not patient. If he wants it done...it should be done right away. He's fair. After things calm down, he's the first to apologize, and is very forgiving. He's quiet. He's not a man of many words. He is honorable. He conducts himself honorably at all times. His character is beyond reproach. But, most of all he loves me no matter what, and I love who he is. Happy Birthday Honey!

Family Party

A party for Challis' Birthday.

Photobucket

We had a party Sunday to celebrate Challis' 18th birthday. We had a BBQ and enjoyed each others company. We were happy to have Grandpa and Grandma Dorman (Tiff's Mom and her Husband) Star, Jeff, Kylee and Rylie (Tiff's sister and family.) Here are some of the pics. Above: Challis, Below: Tiffany

Below: Kylee and Rylie
Everyone hanging out after dinner. Notice Rick doing dishes in the back. He always does the dishes (thanks hon.)
Kylee works on Challis' back.

Star, Rylie, and Jeff. Jeff said that when you turn 18 you get all the rights that suck...You can go to prison as an adult. And you can get drafted into war....congratulations. Oh, or you could buy cigarettes to kill yourself with.....or Vote for someone who doesn't care about you.

Our pretty girls, Chantel and Kylee.

Rylie is a pretty little thing also.

Corbin loves babies. He fed and played with her. He'll make a wonderful father someday.....far, far in the future....
Other families would have gone to the game room to watch the big screen or play games...not my family, we hung out at the little screen and watched Scare Tactics on YouTube.
We had fun. Thanks for coming over guys. We love you, and I hope you had a wonderful Birthday Challis.
