Prom

Melissa asks Challis to Prom

Melissa asked Challis to Prom because she said, she’d never done the asking before. She did a really cute job. She decorated his room with origami birds and a decorated box filled with fortune cookies.

The Dance

Here are the pictures that Melissa’s parents took. We didn’t get to see them, and I’m so sad. They look so darling. The last Prom for Chal.....Kinda makes me sad. Melissa looks so beautiful. Take a look at the last pic. They are so dang SKINNY!

I talked to them both about the Prom, and they both said they had a wonderful time.

Ogden 1/2 Marathon, and Rick's first.

Rick did AWESOME! What a great day. :)

What fun. Rick ran his first ½ marathon yesterday. As I predicted he left me in the first 20 seconds of the race, and I never saw him again until I crossed the finish line. We both struggled the last few miles. Rick struggled because he only stopped at ONE water station, and he took a GU without water. He had never used a GU, and it made him sick. (Is he CRAZY!?) And I struggled because I needed a prota-potty and there wasn’t one...Oh, well, I made it.:)

Rick beat my personal best ½ time 1:44 on the first try. He finished 1:43.....WHATEVER! He didn’t even train....he sucks! But, I’m really proud of him. Way to go Hon.

These are pics of us after the race together.

Here is Rick Finishing. I wish it was more clear, but my kids were the photographers.

Here is my finish. They did better with this pic. :) I finished 1:51.

These are some of the girls in my Boot Camp class. They are young and fun. I have enjoyed getting to know them this year.

Corbin, Channy, and Challis with the cow bells they cheered with.

Corb, Channy, Challis and my Mom came to cheer us on at the finish line. It ment a lot to us. Thanks for being so supportive. We love you.

After the race we came home and chilled watching TV. But later we saw Challis off as he went to Prom with Melissa. Then my friend Leslie made us a wonderful dinner and we sat and gabbed around a fire. It was the perfect ending to a really great day.

I'll have pics of Prom posted as soon as I get them.

Friday Flashback

Ogden Marathon (26.2 miles) One Year Ago This Weekend!
Photobucket Wow, it seems like a million years ago and just yesterday all at the same time; the red Gatorade on my shirt, the dehydration, the fatigue, the pain, the heat, the cramps, Metallica’s Enter Sandman playing in my ear, the course through Eden, Ogden Canyon, Ogden Parkway, the Finish Line. Oh, the Finish Line. It was a proud moment, a sad moment, a tired moment. My emotions were racing all at once, with the crowd all around me.

This year I’m only running the ½ marathon 13.2, but Rick will be joining me for his first race. I think it will be a blast. He’s an amazing runner, even though he hardly trained....he'll kick my butt. That part sucks. We’re picking our packets up this after noon and meeting other runners for a high carb dinner at Roosters in Ogden. I can’t wait.

I though I’d add the crazy ritual of stuff I put together the night before a race. Rick thinks I’m crazy because I have to have so much CRAP!
I pin my number to my clothes where I'd like it.

I put the timing chip on my running shoe. Important it’s secure, because I’m not running all that way for no reason...I wanna know my time.

I put out my Body Glide. It’s a lubricant used for chaffing, on my feet, under my arms, between my thighs. (maybe more than you need to know, but what the heck)

I put out a banana for breakfast, and a bottle of water to drink. Potassium is important for people who sweat like freakin’ pigs, like me.

A dry fit hat or sun visor to keep the sun off my face when it’s hot and sunny.

Sunglasses to keep the sun and wind out of my eyes.

You may have noticed my bumpy boobs. That’s Shot Blocks, Luna Moons or GU. I keep my stash there because it’s easily accessible when I’m running. They are energy boosters to eat during my race.

My iPod fully charged with rockin’ music to keep me going. It’s probably the most important accessory for me. Without it I’d likely just start walking.

Sweatbands for my wrists. They do a number of things: keep the sweat off my face, stop my watch from hitting my wrist bone and yes they make a nice Kleenex. Don’t you say disgusting! It’s those people like Rick that put a finger to their nose and blow snot on the people behind them that's disgusting!

My Garmin 301. It’s my pacer, my watch, my heart monitor, my goal. It rocks! Rick, get your own, better yet buy me a 305 and you can have my 301. :)

A DryFit tank. I prefer a racerback. Nike makes good ones. This is a cute pink one. :)

Running shorts. I like Nike Tempo Track shorts. They are nice to run in. They have a panty in them and they are light weight. Love um!

Duct Tape! That’s right! Duct Tape! It’s good for lot’s of things....Just ask Rick, he’ll fix anything with it. I use it to keep the skin on my feet, yep, that’s what I said. I put it on my left foot because Mole Skin sweats off and Duct Tap sticks. People think I’m crazy...maybe so.

Degree spray deodorant. Not for the pits....for the feet! Rick really shakes his head at this one. The more you sweat the worse your blisters, and did I mention I sweat like a freakin’ pig? Yep. I did. So you see... I duct tape, then I lube, then I spray and then I....

Put on special socks. Special, that’s right! I like Adidas coolmax cushion socks. They have extra cushion in the forefront of the foot, arch support, and they are made with a breathable thread that keeps your feet nice, cool, and dry....well as dry as they can be.

Lastly and most important next to, sleep, training, nutrition, and a will to win (ok, finish,) the shoes: Adidas Supernova cush 7’s I really like them, and I’ve tried a ton of shoes. Well, there you have it, all my crazy running stuff. ;)

District Track Meet

Silver and Bronze.
We really had a great time watching Corbin run in the District Track Meet yesterday. Rick, Grandma Dorman and me (Tiff,) were there to watch. Above is Corbin with his silver metal.

Above, Corbin is the 3rd runner in the pic, but he passes both runners in time.

Above is Corbin's 4X4 Relay Team. They took Silver (second place.)
L to R: Corbin, Frank, Ramón, and Alex. BTW, Frak (in black) says that hair do is "aerodynamic". Hey, whatever works!

This is the 4X4 team on the podium.

This is Corbin with his 4X1 Relay Team. They took the Bronze (third.) They were a little disappointed by this, because they had beaten the teams that took 1st and 2nd earlier in the year. But, 3rd is nothing to be ashamed of, and I think they should be proud. L to R: Darren, Corbin (or shady,) Jared, and Bryan.

4X1 Team on the podium.

Just a side note, today I’m grateful once again that I have medical insurance, because without it, I couldn’t afford to have Corbin as a son. He called me from school and said he needed me to come pick him up to get stitches. We went and of course he asked the Dr. tons of questions about the suturing process. He really likes to learn about that kind of stuff. He thinks it’s cool. I’ve lost count of how many times he’s had stitches, but it’s a lot.

Oh, Yeah! Corbin made it to 6 feet. He's really happy about that. I kept teasing him that he’d never see 6 feet tall. Now his goal is to be taller than Challis....we’ll see.

Mother's Day

Why there's a Mother's Day.....
There was a time in my life I would have told you that being a mother was the best thing ever. Children were the best. I would have told you that they are so cute. You can dress them darling; they sing songs, play, dance, and say, “I wove you mama. You are the prettiest, bestest Mama in the world.” You work hard and teach them. They learn and you’re so proud.....

And then they turn 8-10, and they say, “I hate you, you’re the worst mom in the world, and you’re ugly!” They loose their teeth, they’re not as cute. They won’t wear what you buy them, and they stop doing their homework. Then they turn 13.....And your pretty much just want out. Yeah, there are those few moments when they still make you proud, or smile. But, you stop sleeping again. You wonder where they are, and who they are with, and you are really unsure of your lie detector skills. And you start to tell yourself that maybe you are the worst mother ever....

Where did you go wrong, and why do cell phones rule your world? And on Mother’s Day they say, and I quote.....”Mother’s Day is just another excuse for my mom to take advantage of my good nature.” (Corbin) So, I’m glad there’s a Mother’s Day, because even if they think I do nothing.....I can “take advantage of their good nature” for one day, because they have no idea how much I deserve it.....no idea!

I’m grateful for my Mother. I too didn’t appreciate my Mother as much as I should of at one time, but now I’m glad I have her around to tell me that being a mother does get better again. She’s been a mother since she was 15, so I think she has had enough experience, and I can trust that she knows what she’s talking about....even my kids think she’s a better mother than I am, so here’s to you mom. Happy Mother’s Day!

We, my Mom, Corbin, Channy, me, and Challis went to Denny’s for breakfast on Mother’s Day. My mom and I love to go to breakfast. Challis even got out of bed to come. He’d gone to the drive-in the night before and didn’t get home until 4 a.m., so it was quite a sacrifice on his behalf.

My Mom with the kids.

Channy gave me flowers that she made. She also gave me a cute card. Rick gave me new clothes and shoes, and my Mom gave me flowers and a stepping stone. But maybe the best gift I got, or didn’t get was from the SKUNK I saw on my morning run. I still can’t believe I got away without getting sprayed. :)
