new shoes

Happy Feet!

You are going to think I’m crazy to be so happy about new running shoes, but I am. They feel wonderful. I got new trail shoes also. It seems like running shoes just don’t last that long, and when their time is up you start getting hurt. My knees have been killing me. I really hope they help on my 18 mile run on Sat. I’m so nervous for this run I can’t even tell you. My plan is….just go slow, and finish. I dropped from 2nd place to 6th place after my last run, so the pressure is off now. I can just run and… enjoy myself? Well, maybe that’s taking it a bit too far, hee, hee. Anyhow, here’s to new shoes!

Gangs Suck

If You're going to spray paint at least show some talent!!!!
Well, look what I woke up to today! A gang from Ogden made their way down here and it looks like they’ve taken my damn fence as part of their territory. So, I’ll spend my day TAKING THE DAMN THING BACK!!!!!! Some people (probably teenagers) really need to get a life.

Below: This is what I saw when I opened my blinds. It's my neighbors fence. This paint better come off.

Flashback Friday

When will #6 be here?

My little sister, Star, is expecting the 6th grandchild on my side of the family. The baby will be a little girl and even out the boys and girls. She was so uncomfortable last night. She should have her any day now. We are all excited for a new baby. My niece Kylee is almost 7. It’s been a long time since we’ve felt the soft fuzz of a newborn baby. I’m so excited. *hands rubbing together*

These pictures were taken 2 years ago for Mother’s Day for my mom. I can’t wait to have another kid in the pictures……like it wasn’t hard enough trying to get 5 kids to smile and be happy. :)

My niece is Kylee, like I said, and my nephew is Bowen.

MY BFF
This is a picture of me and my long time BFF (Brenda Bentley Saddler). Long time, as in, she's been my best friend since I was 3 years old. This picture was taken last year when we went to lunch for my birthday, and the fist thing I noticed about this pictures is that it was warm enough for a tank top last year. The picture below is of us at lunch on my birthday this year, and I have not one, but two long sleeve shirts on. Latter in the day we went to Brenda's daughter's softball game where we needed coats. I swear, it'll never warm up.

This is a picture of Taylor at her game. She played first base for the Syracuse Titan's. Brenda and I had a great time watching even though it was cold and even snowed sometimes. :)

Birthday #39

Happy Birthday to ME!

What a really wonderful birthday. It was a fabulous day. It started with Boot Camp. Seriously, It’s the way I start a lot of days, but I love the people I workout with. They are all up beat inspiring people that work hard and laugh. It’s always a great start to my day. Then I went to breakfast with Rick (who was sweet and took the day off), Chantel (who is off track), my mom, and old family friends. I had a homemade apple fritter, yummy. It was nothing but laughs. I really enjoyed myself. After that it was off to get a couples massage with Rick. If I were rich I’d have a full time masseuse. It was pure heaven. We went home and chilled until dinner time, and for dinner we went to the Timbermine as a family. It was delicious. All in all it was a perfect birthday spent with people I love, and while the gifts were great…it’s the people that really made my day. Loves to you all. Mwah!

My worst race EVER!

Striders 1/2 marathon.

Well, when your body crashes....it crashes. And my body crashed and burned today. I didn't really see it coming either. I felt great before the race. I thought I'd be fine, but NO! By mile 3 I knew I was in trouble. My legs have been having problems, and they just wouldn't go. I had nothing. Then my stomach started cramping with back pain, and I felt like I was going to throw up. I got rid of my jacket in the canyon because I felt too hot, and that turned out to be a huge mistake. When I got out of the canyon, the wind was sooooo cold. I couldn't move my hands or my arms. I was ready to call it quits, and then.......My knight in shining Adidas showed, RICK. I was never so happy to see him. It was like he was a mirage. He was supposed to wait for me at the finish, but he decided to come run me in. Thank the Lord! We made a stop at an aid station and I went in the porta-potty, where a man muscled open my LOCKED door to expose me to all the other runners. That was another high light for me. :) Then after I clawed my clothes back on with my frozen paws, Rick, like a gentleman, gave me his jacket, and helped me to the finish line. Without him....I don't think I could have finished. When I got home I took a shower and went back to bed. I feel like @#$%. So here is my shameful time. :( I finished 19 in my adg division, with at time of 2:01.

19 Tiffany Gatten 414 39 283 2:01:28.0 9:16/M

On another note, I'm so proud of my friends who ran. Missy was so strong. She kicked butt even without Teresa. Teresa was at a funeral (sorry for her loss.) And Lisa beat her last race time. Way to go girl.

5 Missy Nichols 544 40 182 1:51:21.7 8:30/M
13 Lisa Stofferahn 628 40 270 1:59:59.0 9:10/M

I'm sure that I've dropped considerably in the standings. Dang it. Maybe I need some rest.

More Cousinly Love

This is a pic of Aiden and Chantel in April of 2005. The photo was taken at a beach house in Oregon. They were attending a family reunion.
